[StoneWall](https://www.stonewallco.com) was tasked with designing that solution.  The problem involved the deployment and retrieval of layflat hose for water transport. Once the trip was complete, we used hand sketches and picture to initiate our design via Autodesk Inventor and Fusion 360. StoneWall was able to solve the customer's perceived problem through [structural](http://www.stonewallco.com/engineering/), [mechanical](http://www.stonewallco.com/engineering/), and [hydraulic design](http://www.stonewallco.com/design-and-drafting/). We delivered a [full engineering package](https://eng-pes.com/blog/from-napkin-sketch-to-successful-innovative-solution) which included manufacturing prints, full Bill of Materials (BOM), [engineering calculations](http://www.stonewallco.com/engineering/), and [finite element analysis](https://eng-pes.com/stonewall-finite-element-analysis) (FEA). ![layflat hose](https://eng-pes.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/img-27.jpg?width=629&name=img-27.jpg "layflat hose") # Water Transfer ![water transfer application](https://eng-pes.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/img-33.jpg?width=629&name=img-33.jpg "water transfer application") During the drilling and completions process of unconventional (horizontal) wells to access oil and gas resources, an average well requires a substantial amount of water to be brought both to and from the well pad for hydraulic fracturing. Trucking the water can be complicated, highly variable, and expensive. To mitigate these issues, operators utilize a network of pipe connecting multiple pad locations, pits, tanks, water sources, treatment facilities and disposals.
